Chicago DWI

 

If convicted of a Chicago DWI, Illinois laws make you vulnerable to a variety of charges that you need to know about.  

At the very top; a DWI or DUI in IL can inflict steep fines, loss of your license, drug/alcohol education, probation, lose of vehicle, plus jail time.  In addition to these penalties:  it can cost you your career, income and reputation.

Chicago Drunk Driving Laws are now very restrictive and expensive if convicted.  In IL you can be Arrested For Dui by having a .08 in a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration).  If you ever fall into this category, you should be aware of what it will mean for you.

The legal age for drinking in IL is 21.  If you are under the legal drinking age and pulled over and convicted for a DUI you can be facing the following:

  • 1st offence suspension of license up to two years
  • 2nd offense suspension of license up to five years or until you turn 21, whichever is greater
  • 3rd Dui Offense can equate to a 10 year License Suspension

Illinois Drunk Driving laws for people 21 and over fall into the following:

  • 3 months for “first DUI or Dwi Offense” (individuals with no previous Dui’s in the previous 5) with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher.
  • 1 year for individuals with a BAC of .08 or higher with previous DUI or DWI offenses.
  • 6  months for “1st DUI or DWI offenses” that  refuse any or all testing
  • 2 years for anyone who refuse blood testing who are not “first DUI / DWI offenders.”
